Funeral services for Roy Lemmond will be held at Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home in Hugo, OK on Saturday, February 15, 2020, at 11:00 am. Roy went to be with the Lord on February 6, 2020, in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 92.
Roy G Lemmond was born May 8, 1927, to Roy Augustus ‘Gus’ Lemmond and Bessie (Winn) Lemmond, in Binger, OK. He had lived in this area most of his life and was a veteran of WWII. Roy held a Master’s Degree in Secondary Education from OSU. He served as Superintendent of Schools in the Boswell Public School District for 15 years and in the Ft. Towson School District for three years. He was a member of the Oklahoma Educators Association and the National Educators Association. After his retirement, Roy devoted himself to his ranch, Rocking L, full time. He loved working his cows, hunting, fishing, and camping in Colorado. Roy also enjoyed western books and movies, and spending time with his family and friends.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Gus and Bessie Lemmond; brothers, Douglas, J.C., Delbert, and Joe; and sisters, Mary Lou Spear and Nadine Irwin.
Roy is survived by his wife, Helen Lemmond, of Shawnee, OK; son, David, and his wife, Ruth; daughters, Ann Long, and her husband, Dean, and Becky Gault, and her husband, Glenn; step-children, Gaye and Gary Johnson, Rick and Sandy Rice; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and friends.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, February 15, 2020, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home chapel.
