Ricky Jack Britt

Funeral services for Ricky Jack Britt will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at 2:00 pm. at Prater-Lampton-Mill & Coffey Chapel with Pastor Luther Roden officiating. Ricky passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2023, in Hugo, Oklahoma at the age of 73.

Ricky Jack Britt was born on November 3rd, 1949, in Hugo, Oklahoma to Jack Britt and Jean (Danskin) Britt, and was a lifetime resident of Choctaw county.

Ricky went to Hugo schools and graduated from Hugo High School in 1968.  After high school he went to Oklahoma State university Institute of Technology at the Okmulgee campus.  He worked for Bell Telephone Company in Hugo as a lineman and repairman for 34 years and then retired.  In 2005 Ricky went to work for the City of Hugo Code Enforcement working there 10 years before retiring again in 2015.

Ricky married Rose Adams in Saguache, Colorado on November 2nd, 1994.  In December 1995, they gave birth to one son, Cody.

Ricky was an avid hunter and fisherman.  He spent 40 years hunting the Colorado Elk and Mule Deer during the hunting season. He and Cody went to Colorado Trout fishing in the summer for over 20 years.  Many memorable hunting and fishing trips were made with Ricky and his friends and family.

Ricky also owned Ricky’s Reloading in Hugo, where he had a firearms repair and ammunition reloading shop. 

In 2011, Ricky joined the Messer Fire Department as a volunteer firefighter and was a firefighter to this day.

If someone met Ricky, he always treated them as family.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Jean, father, Jack and wife, Rose.

Ricky is survived by his only son, Cody Britt of Hugo; two brothers, Alan Britt of Hugo and Ronald Campbell of Fort Worth, TX; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 9th, 2023, at 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM. at the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home in Hugo. OK.
