Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hugo, Oklahoma. Pat went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 23, 2021, in Hugo, Oklahoma at the age of 92.
Pat was born October 26, 1928, the daughter of J. Coy and Ruth (Smith) Chafin in Paris, Texas. She married the love of her life, John Willard Braudrick in Hugo Oklahoma on October 16, 1948. Pat lived in Hugo most of her life and was a member of the First Baptist Church. Pat retired from the education field after 44 years. Pat was a prime force in the success of Hugo Public Schools. As an exemplary Administrative Assistant, she was most proficient at communications, a great people person, loved kids, and kept Simon Parker on time and on track (if anyone could!!) for years--at the high school and, later, in Administration. High school students loved her so much they would beg to have a period off to be HER office assistant! If an unruly student was sent to The Principal's office, they would often stop at her desk to spend "their time" there. She was such a hard worker, always pleasant, and the ultimate professional. She was the "gatekeeper" for Simon Parker at the high school and what a daunting task that was! She did it with ease, respect, and efficiency. Pat was loved and appreciated by all who worked with her. She enjoyed reading novels and Christian encouragement books. Pat thoroughly enjoyed to travel with her son, Joe, to the Deep South United States and California, especially the Precious Moments Chapel in Carthage, MO. She enjoyed listening to and singing music; she was in the choir from age 16 to 78, the last member of the Hugo First Baptist Senior Adult Choir which she was the last serving member of the senior adult choir . Pat was a longtime member of the Ruby Howse Womens Missionary Union at First Baptist Church in Hugo, OK. During the time she was the facilitator around 2008, another group merged with her group to form the Ruby Howse - Mara Golson Women on Mission. From 2009 to 2017
Pat was a strong leader and kept the meetings moving forward. In one particular meeting, she read an inspirational poem about how blessed we were in America and how thankful she was to be a Christian and especially an American Christian. One mission project was to make witnessing dolls to give to missionaries. Pat so enjoyed painting the faces on the dolls and did almost all of them. Pat kept this volunteer job until she was unable because of health reasons to continue. She will sorely be missed, in the service and fellowship with the group. Another ministry Pat was involved in the First Baptist Church as the music minister. She sang in the choir for many years much of the time under the leadership of Morris Upchurch, and Doug Troxell. During part of that time, she was a member of the senior adult choir which went to nursing homes and other places to sing. Pat had a strong beautiful alto voice and used it to sing in an ensemble. When her health got too bad, she faithfully watched the services on television at home. Pat is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, John Willard Braudrick; one brother, Billy T. Chafin.
Pat is survived by one son, Joe Braudrick of the home; nephews, John Hayden Chafin of Hugo, OK, Matthew Scott Chafin of Taos, NM, Terry Gene Braudrick and wife Janey of Dallas, TX, John Charles Ward and wife Luanne (Uster)Ward of Plano, TX, Paul Allen Braudrick of Durant, OK; nieces, Cindy Lea Chafin of Hugo, OK, Patricia Ann (Chafin) Stratton and husband Brooks of Shady Springs , WV, and Geni (Braudrick) Hutchings and husband Joey of Durant, OK; sister-in-laws, Margaret Ann (Knox) Chafin of Hugo, OK and Mickie (Braudrick) Hickenbottom and husband Lewis of Hugo, OK.
