Otis Clifford Cloninger

Graveside services for Otis Clifford Cloninger will be held on Monday, June 6, 2022, 10:00 AM at Cloninger Family Cemetery in Hugo, Oklahoma with Brant Allen officiating. Otis went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 2, 2022, in Hugo, OK at the age of 90.

Otis was born October 10, 1931, to Otis Merkel and Altrice (Matthews) Cloninger in Farmersville, Texas. Otis moved to Hugo in 1951 and he married the love of his life, Sadie Freeman on June 6, 1953, in Hugo, OK. They were married for 65 years before she passed in 2018. Otis worked as a mechanic and there wasn't much he didn't work on. He spent time making repairs on many things, from cars to farm equipment to heavy machinery and all the things in between. He enjoyed his work and would often spend time inventing ways to make work easier. He made several things that helped in various avenues. He enjoyed coon hunting, horses, and livestock. He coached kids and grandkids in endurance races with their horses. He was known by many kids in the area as "Papa".

Otis is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sadie Cloninger; two sons, Butch Logan, and Milton Rickman; one daughter Darlene Wright; three grandsons, Josh Carlile, Randy Rickman, and Derek Allen; one granddaughter, Stephanie Powell; two sisters Marie Ayers and Linda George; one brother, Pete Cloninger.

Otis is survived by his children; Cecil Bryant Rickman and wife Darlene, Sherrie Kay Carlile and significant other Donnie Sanders, Shelia Gay Dale all of Speer, OK; two daughters-in-law, Johnnie Logan of Hugo, OK, Joyce Rickman of Krebs, OK; one brother, Melvin Cloninger of Tulsa, OK; sixteen grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and several great great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 5, 2022, 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Prater-Lampton-Mills and Coffey Funeral Home.
