Funeral services for Katheryn Elizabeth Lindsey, 92 will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home In Hugo, OK with Pastor Tim Harless officiating and burial following at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hugo, Oklahoma. Betty went to be with the Lord on May 21, 2020 in Soper, OK
Kathryn Elizabeth (Betty) Males Lindsey was born to her parents Jake and Esther Males on 4-28-28 in the community of Nelson north of Soper, Oklahoma. She lived during the depression and later World War 2 but said she never felt deprived because she always had plenty to eat and clothes to wear and was surrounded by family and close friends. She attended Nelson Elementary school and Soper High School where she graduated in 1946. She soon moved to Memphis Tennessee where she lived and worked for 3 years. She returned to Soper, Oklahoma to marry her high school sweetheart James Paul (Jamie) Lindsey on Dec 24, 1949. After a year they moved to Hobbs, New Mexico where they lived for 54 years, raised 3 children and made life long friends. She enjoyed traveling and especially the beauty of the plains and mountains of New Mexico. In her travels she visited most of the states in America and portions of Canada. She was a member of Hobbs Lions Club and a lifetime member of the Methodist Church. After retirement they moved back to Soper in 2005 to be close to family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Lindsey her parents, Jake and Esther Males, two sisters, Ida Hampton of Fort Worth and Mary Buercklin of Little Rock and one grandson Spencer Lindsey of Soper. She is survived by her children Judy and Ken Gregory of Owasso Oklahoma, Becky and Robby Battishill of Soper Oklahoma, Paul Lindsey of Soper, Oklahoma and 4 grandsons Shannon Farmer, Tyler Battishill, Travis Lindsey, Dalton Lindsey and 8 great-grandchildren.
