Gladys Marie Pierce, age 94, passed away July 12, 2020 and was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jack Pierce. She was born on January 9, 1926 in Turkey, Texas to Albert and Ider Magby. On Feb. 19, 1944, she married Jack. In those 65 years, they raised a son and daughter and a few others along the way. Gladys was a member of Central Baptist Church in Odessa, where she served as a Vacation Bible School volunteer.
Gladys was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She loved her roles as “Nonie,” “Aunt Glad,” and “Mom.” Her family rejoices in her life, and we are extremely grateful that she was our Mom.
Gladys is survived by her son, Jackie Pierce and wife Linda; daughter, Peggy Strickland and husband Bill; nephews, Johnny and Jerry Magby; grandchildren, Steven Strickland and wife Juli, Launa Boring and husband Doug, Shanon Strickland and wife Kelly; great-grandchildren, Thomas and Haley Boring, Camryn and Jack Sawyer Strickland and Coleman and Elena Strickland; and her brother Bud Magby and wife Norma.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Renew Home Health and Kindred Hospice for their care of Gladys. We cannot express enough gratitude for love and care that was extended to our Mom. They were truly our Heroes.
