The world is dimmer after losing one of its brightest and most interesting lights as Edward (Eddie) Allen Moore departed this life on June 1st, 2020 in Richardson, Texas.
Eddie was born on July 9th, 1949 in Houma, Louisiana to Doris and L.B. Moore. He moved to many areas during his life, but spent most of the his life in Soper, Ok, where he graduated high school in 1968 before attending Southern Oklahoma State University in Durant.
Eddie met and wed the love of his life, Shirley Roebuck Moore, in Nov. 1983 after a whirlwind romance. Shirley gifted Eddie with two sons, Bill Roebuck and Anthony Dean. Eddie and Shirley enjoyed spending every day of their nearly 37 years together. They were blessed with love and never stopped holding hands.
Eddie led a life that you typically only hear about in stories, and he loved to tell his stories. Eddie also loved to laugh and could always tell you a good joke. He was a very talented individual, a literal jack-of-all-trades, who was technically minded and loved to tinker with everything. Eddie truly embodied his favorite song “Takin’ Care of Business”. There was not a job, be it electrical, mechanical, or support, that he could not fix. He owned businesses, held many jobs and titles, and eventually settled into the role of maintenance at Soper School to be closer to his family, a position he retired from after 20 years.
An energetic man, Eddie filled his life with many different passions. Eddie enjoyed rock n roll music: including enjoying attending concerts with his sons, singing his favorite songs, and playing the guitar with his family and in bands. Eddie spent precious time with his soulmate Shirley, traveling in their beloved purple Dodge Charger to see Thunder and Maverick games, eating steak soup at Cattleman’s Steakhouse in Oklahoma City, and spending time at home sitting together solving word games and watching sports.
Eddie is preceded in death by his parents, Doris and L.B. Moore, his son and daughter-in-law Bill and Jade Moore and his sister Joyce Redmon.
Eddie is survived by his wife, Shirley Moore, of Soper, OK; his son Anthony Moore and his wife Natalie of Irving, TX, and his son Chad Moore of Hugo, OK. He is also survived by his sister Glenda Carter and her husband Fred of Soper, OK and his brother Jerry Moore of Tulsa, OK.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Soper School, P.O. Box 149, Soper, OK 74759, the place where Eddie and Shirley worked 35 years and they spent 20 years working side-by-side.
