Graveside services for Dixie Lou Wheeler will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. the Restland Cemetery in Boswell, Oklahoma. Dixie went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 27, 2020, in Boswell, Oklahoma at the age of 85.
Dixie was born on November 4, 1934, the daughter of Alonzo and Eva Phillips Colwell in Hunter, Oklahoma. She had lived in Boswell, OK all of her life and graduated from Paris Junior College in 1978 as an LPN. Dixie worked as a LPN for 18 years for Hurley Manor in Coalgate, OK. She was a Jane of all trades, a caregiver to her parents, a loving mother to her children, and working outside in her flower beds. She also loved to read, could do beautiful embroidery work, and shopping was her favorite pastime. Dixie loved her family dearly.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, Curtis Daniel Barnes, her second husband, Coy Dean Knight, and her third husband, Victor Clark Wheeler; one grandson, Daniel Lee Goff; and her brothers and sisters, Maurine Steel, Evelyn McMillian, Virginia Gail Freeman, Catherine Sharum, Billy Colwell, Wayne Colwell, and Jarl Colwell.
She is survived by three children, Terry Barnes and wife, Anna of Hendrix, OK, Robby Knight and wife, Tensia of Burlington, NC, and Melinda Goff and husband Ronnie of Lane, OK, grandchildren, Susan Murphey and husband Jerry, Kim DePue and husband Mike, Melissa Kenner and husband Daniel; great-grandchildren Matthew Ridgway, Ashley Ballard and husband Kody, Chelsea Howell and husband Christian, Elizabeth Goff, Vivian Goff, twins Patrick Kenner and Josie Kenner, Jeremy Murphey and wife, Mica, and Hayden Murphey; great-great-grandchildren Stella Howell, Oliver Ballard and Colton Murphy, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Family will receive friends Friday, July 31st, 2020, from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home Chapel in Hugo, OK.
