Funeral services for Charles Wilson James will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at First Assembly of God Church in Hugo, OK with Pastor Keithen Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hugo, OK. Charles went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 27, 2022, in Durant, OK at the age of 82.
Charles was born June 15, 1939, to Curtis Wilson and Willie Lee (Hyatt) James in Hugo, OK. He married the love of his life, Norma Ruth Bostic, in Hugo, OK on June 14, 1958 and they spent a wonderful 59 years together. Charles was a devoted husband and father. He worked in shipping at Weyerhaeuser for 30 years. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Hugo, OK. He loved sports, watching westerns, and mowing his yard. His greatest loves were his family and serving the Lord. Charles is preceded in death by his wife, Norma Ruth James; his parents, Wilson and Willie James; brother, Johnny James; sister-in-law, Janette James; and two grandchildren, Randi Ruth Debo and William Charles Debo.
Charles is survived by his children, Charlotte Debo and husband Randy of Hugo, OK, Chuck James and wife Kathy of Durant, OK, Pam Switzer and Jason Maxwell of Hugo, OK, Brian James and wife Kathy of Stillwater, OK; grandchildren, Ashley Gaddy and husband Camron, Brandon Debo and wife Stormi, Erica Hickson and husband Dontra, Zac Switzer, Ryan Debo and wife Madison, Tiffany James, Tyler James, and Madison James; great-grandchildren, Paxton Hickson, Jonas Debo, Spencer Debo, Bristol Debo, Juliette Debo, and Noa Hickson; sisters, Christine Chappell, Becky Goza and husband Roger, all of Hugo, OK; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Visitation will be Friday, February 4, 2022 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Prater-Lampton-Mills and Coffey Funeral Home in Hugo, OK.
